I want them to work…I really do. I want explosive strength, the unbelievable pumps and the veins feeding every muscle on my body. In short, I want that mind blowing workout promised on the label.

Darin Lannaghan pumped and vascular
But do they really deliver?
I am talking about the Nitrous Oxide pre workout supplements that you mix with water and drink just before hitting the gym. In particular, my latest venture with Muscletech’s NaNO Vapor and Muscle Asylum NO Plasmacore. Don’t you just love these names?
I decided to give these products a whirl.
It all started at this year’s 2008 Arnold Classic Expo where product samples and information are plentiful. I bit. I came home and plunked down over 100 bucks to try NaNO Vapor and Plasmacore. I’ll give you my read on the performance of these two products in a minute but first let me comment on their product claims.

(Read the label before buying any product)
The Promises are unbelievable when you read the label. (If you accept what they say)
Both NaNO Vapor and Plasmacore would have you believe only kryptonite is going to slow you down in the gym. And where do they get words that they make up….Vaso Anabolic Pychoactive Experience whatever that means. Muscletech deserves an Oscar for best written label that says nothing but implies everything. With made up ingredient like Intravol, Vasoprime, NeuroAMP, Anaplex, Infernogen, and MyoGF how can this stuff not work. Do they think bodybuilders are really this stupid? Looking behind the fancy words are regular ingredients. Infernogen first ingredient is Caffeine. There's surprise.
And It just keeps getting better as you read on. Do not exceed the recommended dosage. EVER. I got to tell you I did exceed the dosage and I am still waiting for that Vaso Anabolic Pychoactive Experience. And that Do Not shake the Container warning. I tracked down my safety glasses before popping the top on this jug.
And Plasmacore is just as boastful. Resist the temptation to start with the maximum dosage….as your body adapts to physique altering affect. Woo...every one stand back I am about to alter.
Then in the tiny print they both say; These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. No kidding!
Read the label out loud at your next party and be the comedian of the evening.
Okay back to do they do anything at all? Well frankly I am not sure. Some days yes I did seem a little more vascular. The caffeine did do its trick to make me a little jittery and more energetic. But other days, it was like zero affect. It seemed to me, if I was psyched up before going to work it helped but if my mind was distracted and not expecting a boost…the affect was not apparent.
And I have gotten some explosive workouts just by mentally pyching up on my own prior to stepping in the gym.

Sagi Kalev psyching up
So should you go buy an NO product? If you are on a limited budget, I'd say no. They may haved helped a little, but both are very expensive. Certainly I would not put this in my top supplement category above whey protein. Both Plasmacore and NaNO Vapor fill a huge container maybe half full. It looks like a lot but really it isn't.
Technically speaking
Keep in mind none of these products contain Nitrous Oxide. The amino acid Arginine is the main ingredient that converts to NO body. I will be testing GNC straight Arginine powder at a fraction of the cost in a few weeks. So stay tuned. Maybe it is worth the money.
