Bodybuilding Program Basics|Training to Gain

Are You A Leader or a Follower by Scott Jameson

If you know me by now, you know that I have never said, “it will be easy” or “in just 12 weeks you have build you have always wanted.”

Why? Because I know bodybuilding takes time and hard work.

On the other hand the results are very health rewarding and the attention of being built among the masses of non bodybuilders can be fun. Like I said on my home page, a tennis player needs his racket, a football player his ball, but the bodybuilder strolls into the room and everybody know what he does.

So how bad do you want it?

Are you mentally and physically willing to discipline yourself? I see so many that are not.

When I go the gym, I hit weights to make the muscles pump, the veins stream down my arms or legs and the sweat glisten off my body. If I not sweating after 15 minutes into my routine, it is time to push a little harder.

My point here is I see so many come into the gym stop and talk awhile, do a set and then stop and talk awhile. No sweat, no pump, no veins, just going through a few motions. They do so much socializing, you'd think it was Saturday night at a single's bar.

Now here’s the deal.

These slackers are going nowhere in their training and if you let them they will drag you down with them. You can be the ear they bend for 5-10 minutes before they allow you to do your next set.

You know I have written on this subject along side of other major topics but it is worth having a short article focused on avoiding "distractors" at the gym.

In other words, sometimes we don’t need new truths…we just need to be reminded of right fundamentals.

I observed this happening way too much this week at my gym and thought we could all use a reminder.

So when you go to the gym tonight or tomorrow be a leader and set the standard for other to live up too:

  • Psych up for your routine before you even step into the gym.
  • Plan in your mind each exercise, rep and set as you step onto the gym floor and move through your routine.
  • Stay focused and let it show on your face. Most will notice and allow you stay in zone.
  • Look at your muscles directly or in the mirror instead of looking around the gym.
  • If someone invades the zone, politely indicate your are really focused right now and don’t have time socialize.
  • If they don’t get the hint, keep working out even if they are still talking. “Say sorry I have to keep moving.”

Bottom line you leave these guys in the dust achieving the muscle growth that they could only wish for.
